That survey was very interesting. Looks like Spain has 62 percent not favourable towards Muslims, of which 27 percent were very unfavourable.
Perhaps of most interest to me was to see that Muslims in western countries were more hopeful about democracy in the middle east than westerners were.
Kind of depressing though to see how few muslims in Great Britain, and in general really, believed arabs were responsible for 9/11 attacks. I mean, do you want to play in the big leagues or what?
Comment by Jonathan Smith June 23, 2006 @ 9:22 pmThe results relating to perceptions of democracy are quite heartening; particularly amongst Muslims in the Middle East where, with the rather odd exception of EU candidate, Turkey, the overwhelming majority saw it as a universally applicable system of government.
The 9/11 results are depressing though. It would have been even more interesting to ask them who they thought responsible for the attacks. I fear that the Zionist conspiracy theory is back in vogue. Did you know 'Protocols of the Elders of Zion' has been made into a cartoon series in Egypt?
