T.G.V. busts 570 km/hr – Dining Car Chef unhappy

Here’s footage of a French T.G.V. going more than 570 km/hr west of Strasbourg in France. It’s really amazing how technology comes in different bursts and waves. Sure we’ve had flight for more than a century now, but trains remain in Europe quite a useful way to get around. Personally, the idea of racing along the French countryside defeats the whole purpose of taking the train in the first place, but clearly there must be a market for some people to take super–fast trains. On the other hand, it’s interesting how no one’s created a market for slow plane travel with big windows to marvel at the world below.
