Here’s an interesting little idea. Essentially, a contronym is a word that could be interpreted as an antonym of itself. I’ve been racking my brain thinking of some political equivalents. I wonder if the word intellectual could work…

Would it be facetious to say, in the context of the French labour market, ‘job security’?

No, I don’t think it’s facetious. It reminds of the fact that in Canada, Unemployment Insurance became Employment Insurance. That’s surely a new one! An apparent antonym actually functioning as a synonym.
